- Among all appropriate applications turned in on time, an jury will select those artists, who fulfill all artistic criteria in order to take part in the 3. Biennale-Austria 2008 and its award ceremony.
- Special emphasis is given to the comprehensive presentation of all art styles and trends in the field of contemporary art. Light creations, installations and sculptures can be presented according to the preference of the individual artist either outdoors, or inside the designated facilities. Each artist will be allocated at least one unit of the exhibition area. The presentation of the exhibits has to take place according to the guidelines of the jury or one of its delegates.
The pieces of art need to be delivered personally or by an authorized representative (carrier) in the last 2 weeks of August 2008 from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. The artist’s work needs to be equipped with a light frame and picture hooks. Painters, graphic artists, photographers, etc. will be allocated a wall with at least 2 x 2,50 m ( width x height).
Sculptors will be provided with an exhibition area of 2 x 3 m ( 6 sq meters ) for the maximum of 3 pieces of art. All sculptures need to be equipped with appropriate pedestals, because the fastening to walls is not admissible. The placement of all exhibits is up to the jury.
- The organization and planning of the exhibition is exclusively reserved to the jury and follows appointed times. The period of application must therefore be absolutely observed.
- The application form and a short biography (maximum 150 words) for the exhibition catalogue have to be sent as soon as possible (deadline is the 15th of May, 2008) to the following address:

Everything must be written legibly in either block letters or with a typewriter. 1 colour or 1 black & white high quality photographs ( high gloss, 9 x 13 cm) of the exhibits, as well as 1 passport photos of the artist need to be added. Pictures can also be sent in electronically as .jpeg or .tiff, high resolution, or on a cd to our office address.It is recommendable to include info-material about the artist’s work (catalogues, photos, press releases, prospectuses ) in order to make it easier for the jury to select participating artists.
- Pieces of art from all parts of the artistic spectrum, which were created in the last creative period, are permissible, as long as they do not interfere with message, expression and quality of other participants and correspond to the jury’s directions. Special agreements can furthermore be made for artists, who work in the field of digital art.
Art associations, galleries and public institutions are highly recommended to do a pre-selection of their artists and send it to the organization committee, specifying their motives.
- After they are informed about admission, artists need to send in a copy, which approves the money transfer of the non-recurring participation fee to the amount of Euro 1.000,-. This document has to be turned in by the 15th of May, 2008. Individual transaction fees need to be paid by the artist and are not covered by the participation fee.
- The non-recurring participation fee will be used to cover a small part of the costs for administration, organization, advertising expenditures for the event, as well as the production of the catalogue. In order to avoid resignations of selected artists, which would endanger the success of the exhibition, resigned artists lose the right of return of already paid fees.
- Each participating artist will be represented in the exhibition catalogue with a photograph of his/her artwork, a portrait picture as well as a short biography. Furthermore each participating artist is briefly introduced with portrait and picture of the artwork on our website at www.biennale-austria.at Nevertheless the artist is not obliged to be present at the exhibition.
- The organizers insure the pieces of art only for the time of the exhibition against fire(indefinable singe and soot damage), damage caused by an act of God, damage due to water and precipitation, robbery, theft, malevolent damage, breaking of glass. Each artist should feel free to take out an insurance against theft and damages, which might occur during shipping, handling and storage.
- There will be no entrance fee for visitors of the Biennale Austria 2008.
- The prize-winners will be nominated by the jury.
- The State Court in Klagenfurt/Austria is court of competent jurisdiction.
